Pittsburgh Teen's 4th Annual Fundraiser for Zambian Children
Pittsburgh, PA - The cost of a $10 uniform can keep a child in Zambia, Africa from attending school. Caylin McKee has found a way to help. McKee turns people’s clutter into cash by partnering with two local stores. She is asking people to bring their unwanted items to either of her partners, We Sell Now or The Savvy Fox and mention Uniforms for Zambia to donate all or part of the sales proceeds to the cause.
Uniforms for Zambia is in its fourth year and so far McKee’s work has helped over 400 children by providing them with uniforms that allow them to attend school. In July of 2005 McKee visited Zambia to personally distribute uniforms and meet the children she was supporting. McKee says "We live in a country with so much 'stuff' that we need businesses like eBay and consignment stores. But now we can donate unwanted items to support a good cause".
McKee graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School in June and has been running Uniforms for Zambia since 2005 as a freshman. This fall she will be attending University of Vermont as an Environmental Studies major and plans to keep running this annual event.
This year’s event will take place from August 1-10. Items can be brought to any location of We Sell Now or The Savvy Fox. Donations are also accepted at PO Box address listed below. Be sure to mention Uniforms for Zambia when donating! It is a great way to get organized and help others at the same time.
